Blake and Cake

A short video made by artist Terry Greene documenting ‘Blake and Cake’ – an event celebrating the life and work of our favourite artist-poet-visionary-revolutionary, William Blake. The event, held on 28th November, what would have been his 258th birthday, featured an exhibition and publication of Blake birthday cards, sent from artists around the world; a specially made short film, readings and performances; Tyger Tyger mask mask making, free poetry giveaways, and a specially made Dark Satanic Mills Cake.
As you can see, it was a wonderful celebration.
Many thanks to Richard Shipp and Sharon Hall Shipp for their wonderful film, ‘I see the four fold man’ ,  made specially for the event which can be seen here  and also to Elizabeth Hopkinson, Penny Andrews, Andrew Mottram, Graham, Clive and Sameeha for their readings and performances.
Blake birthday card artists: Graham Binns, Paul Brandford, Carrie Scott-Huby, Martin Heron, Abi Coe, Paddy Hamilton, Pineapple Falls, Jean McEwan, Sharon Hall Shipp, Tom Jukes, Jenny Zigzag and Elizabeth and Anna Hopkinson.

‘Blake and Cake’ was organised by Wur Bradford in collaboration with artists Terry Greene and Jean McEwan.

Wur Bradford is a collectively run art and social space situated in Bradford’s Kirkgate Market. The project is generously supported by Bradford Markets and Bradford Council
